Here's something that I love: podcasts.
What a concept. It's radio on the go. Tivo for your iPod. The perfect chance to listen to all sorts of things, to dabble in all parts of the audio-world. And anyone can do it. There's tons of selection. What's not to love?
Of course, there's always a double-edged sword. With podcasts come too many options. And not enough room on my computer! So I'm subscribed to about fifty thousand podcasts, downloaded just 1 of about 20 podcasts (I'm exaggerating here, of course, but not by much), and need to listen to, oh, about all of them. Plus I have tons of new music to hear and songs to practice. It's insane!
I am quite excited about the new Broadway Bullet podcast. It's pretty long, over an hour, but it has previews of the NYMT festival, which makes me quite excited. My favorite part of podcasts are the music. I have a cappella podcasts and musical podcasts, so lots of new, free, and perfectly legal music to hear.
Another thing I love: Jason Robert Brown. Last 5 Years and Songs for a New World are absolutely AMAZING! I have Lauren Kennedy's CD of his music, plus JRB's own personal CD, as well as a number of recordings and demos off his website. All of it is so darn amazing!!! I wish I were older so I could play a 23 to 28 year old woman who married and divorced a crazy writer. But I'm not, so I'll have to consent with listening to the CD over and over... and over again. And attempting to belt some of those high notes. Hmm.... not so easy. But really, JRB's absolutely amazing.
Hmm... I wonder if there's a JRB podcast! That would make my day.
--searches--
Not finding anything. He's on a few, but doesn't have his own. Aw shucks. (Yes, I did just say aw shucks. Well, technically I typed it. ehh.... WHATEVER!) well, the internet's always changing. I bet he'll start one soon.
I hope so.
We'll see!
